Real-world information into the digital world:

  Plan

All scanning projects start with a clear plan based on desired results. Our skilled experts plan the scanning mission before going out to the field. We plan necessary scanner locations, coordination networks and control point locations, before starting the mission.  A clear plan, including data handling strategies and how to stay organized when vast amounts of data are being gathered, is essential for saving time and costs. Time spent forming a detailed plan can save our clients from costly mistakes and do-overs.

   Scan

Scanning the project site using a 3D laser scanner to capture real world information about buildings, infrastructure and industrial facilities into the digital world. Collecting existing condition measurements of short- and long-range distances of complex geometries and structures within minutes for a complete recording of the current physical status.

   Process

Once the existing conditions are captured into point clouds, the 3D data set is brought into a registration software used to align and manage individual point clouds. The registration software contains tools allowing users to process scanned data, navigate through projects, visualize data in its best color details, take first measurements and collaborate throughout the project.

   Coordinate

Depending on project needs we set up either local coordinate system or coordinate the whole project in world coordinates. In Sweden this is done using SWEREF99 coordinate system. To tie all scans reliably together and to one coordinate system, it is important to plan and execute control network. Control network needs to be planned together with planned scanner positions and strategies for efficient coverage of the site. Use of coordinate system and control network is essential for most projects and a must for large and complex sites.

   Quality control

We understand the importance of quality. All our data gets quality control measured to avoid costly mistakes down the line. Although data gathered by modern 3D scanners is generally of pristine quality, mistakes may occur in the field caused by either environmental conditions, technical or human error, during registration or processing in the software environments. We take great care to make sure these errors are detected and not advanced in the data delivery process. We utilize secondary measurement routines to make sure our data is of the highest quality possible.

   Clean

3D scanners capture vast amounts of data, filtering out unnecessary parts in early stages of the workflow reduces excess data that burdens IT infrastructure. Being specific about goals for data capture in the planning phase can have drastic effect on the amount of data that will be dragged through the process. Reduced data size translates quickly to faster lead times and reduced costs.

UAV PHOTOGRAMMETRY

We operate with unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) to save time and lower costs when plotting and planning large scale development sites.

MORE

Better data saving time and costs.

Photogrammetry using unmanned aerial vehicles.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) have become an integral part of our toolkit. We use drones to save time and lower costs when plotting and planning large scale sites. Paired with powerful processing capabilities, we can produce survey-grade maps and accurate 3D models, providing clients with better data.

Project managers and virtual design coordinators can save valuable time and eliminate risk using drone maps and 3D models. Whether keeping construction projects on track with sharable maps, comparing BIM models, inspecting job sites for safety, or measuring stockpiles and earthmoving volumes, data gathered with drones improves communication and makes construction a more efficient and safer industry to work in.

Real-world information into the digital world:

   Plan

Safety is paramount while flying any aircraft. There is a lot on the line by incorporating drones into the workplace. Being aware and accepting that risk is part of managing any drone operation. We take the necessary steps to ensure we are minimizing that risk and doing everything to support a safe environment. Our flight team needs to locate any potential hazards that may occur in advance. Our team will have to be aware of any airspace regulations, structures, persons, or equipment that is nearby and plan accordingly. Our experts make sure we always plan our operations according to the environment and the weather. All of this and much more makes it crucial to have a solid plan before starting any mission. Pre-planning for desired accuracy and ground resolution, necessary ground control and various other flight parameters are essential for high-quality results.

   Ground control

To collect highly accurate data, a network of ground control targets need to be placed and measured before the flight operations can begin. Recent advancements in GPS technology have reduced this need somewhat, but for projects where cm-level accuracy is crucial, this is still a big part of the process.

    Fly

Scanning the project site using an unmanned aerial vehicle equipped with high-resolution camera to capture real-world information about buildings, infrastructure and industrial facilities into the digital world. The images captured are evaluated by means of photogrammetry in order to create three-dimensional models, the optical quality of the lenses used is highly important for this type of task. We use only the best Zeiss Batis lenses paired with low noise full-frame image sensors. This allows us to gather very high-quality images, thanks to the superior geometric and radiometric quality of these lenses. All members of our flight crew are trained professionals who can both focus on delivering the highest quality data and maintaining the safety of the operations.

   Process

Once the existing conditions are captured in high-resolution photographs, 2D information is then brought into the processing software to generate 3D point clouds. 3D point clouds are then ground control checked and further processed to extract profiles of the ground, buildings, vegetation, etc. depending on the project needs. Removing unwanted noise that the photogrammetry process inevitably creates and objects of no interest from point clouds is done during processing. Filtering out unnecessary parts in the early stages of the workflow reduces excess data that burdens IT infrastructure. Being specific about goals for data capture in the planning phase can have a drastic effect on the amount of data that will be dragged through the process. Reduced data size translates quickly to faster lead times and reduced costs.

    Quality control measure

All our terrain measurements adhere to quality control procedures, checked in accordance with the local Swedish standard SIS-TS 21144:2016.

   Deliver

Extracting 2D and 3D data from point clouds is an essential step in the photogrammetry process. Profiles, elevations and 3D models (terrain models, etc.) can be efficiently generated by intuitive extraction workflows. Analysis tools allow the comparison of as-built conditions with digital CAD models. All this leads to detailed suggestions for planning and the development of infrastructure projects.

** Our extensive knowledge in unmanned aerial vehicles can be leveraged for various construction, infrastructure and insurance inspection scenarios. We can fly drones to inspect sites and infrastructure more efficiently and in a safer manner. Using drones, building inspectors can identify issues on roofs, building exteriors, and elevated towers without the need to spend hours walking or climbing a site. This eliminates the need to send workers into unsafe conditions unless it’s necessary. For insurance inspectors, drones streamline the claims process, making it easier to assess the property and get customers back on their feet quickly.

BIM

We utilize intelligent 3D models and related data in order to help teams cooperate and understand their projects in unprecedented ways.

MORE

Efficient cooperation & informed decisions.

BIM is a work process in which intelligent 3D models and the related data help teams to cooperate and understand their projects in unprecedented ways. It is about efficient cooperation and informed decisions.

BIM is used to plan, design, construct, operate and maintain diverse physical structures, such as buildings, communication utilities like water, electricity, gas and infrastructure like roads, bridges, ports, tunnels, etc.

We use 3D scanning and photogrammetry as a basis to deliver high-quality digital models for your architects, landscape architects, surveyors, civil, structural and construction services engineers and other decision-makers to make better predictions on costs, timelines and the logistics of your project.

Building information modelling extends beyond 3D, augmenting the three primary spatial dimensions (width, height and depth) with time as the fourth dimension (4D) and cost as the fifth (5D). BIM, therefore, covers more than just geometry. It also covers spatial relationships, delivery and work scheduling, budgeting, light analysis, geographic information, and quantities and properties of building components (for example, manufacturers’ details), etc. Understanding this, we help you integrate spatial data with the data you already have, to help you make more informed decisions.

BIM is not an island.

ERP systems (Enterprise Resource Planning) are a mature technology whose use is widespread in many industries, including Construction. Although ERP origins are linked to the planning of manufacturing processes encompassing both Materials Requirement Planning and Manufacturing Resource Planning systems, its great success is due to the integration of accounting, financial management and analysis modules to other administrative areas of a corporation as well as to production-related ones.

Data integration is part of the essences of BIM and ERP and from it, both concepts derive much of their value.

We understand that integration between graphical and database systems will make their use for decision-making more effective.

Behind both systems, there is a unified database. In both cases, this database has a very complex structure. In ERP, typically a relational database is used, and its tables form an intricate web of data relationships. Integrated data means, in the case of BIM, that all represented disciplines in the building model are internally consistent and can relate to each other in a consistent manner. A BIM model can represent very sophisticated relationships between their elements, going from simple 3D geometrical relationships (relative position in space) to more complex ones like definition, assignment, association, decomposition, connection, aggregation and constraint. So, a good BIM deliverable is much more than just a 3D geometrical representation of a room segment.

Understanding not just technical aspects and delivering more intelligent models for our clients to integrate into their workflow and to the entire enterprise process is what we strive for.

We work closely with our clients to understand their process and information needs and to deliver accordingly.

* We provide our customers with smart solutions and BIM support for the renovation, refurbishment and maintenance of the built environment – the largest share of the AEC sector.
